Hook Bowling
|
Hook Bowling is a very interesting indoor game. Hook Bowling game needs a good level of experience to hit all the ten-pins on one go. The bowler should stand in correct angular position, hold the hook properly and maintain the speed to throw the ball so that it hit's the pins accurately. Balls are rolled over wooden lanes to hit the ten pins situated at the other end of the bowler.
The main idea behind the hook is to give a perfect grip over the ball while playing the game so that the 1-3 pocket (right hand bowlers) and the 1-2 pockets (left hand bowlers) can handle the ball with ease.
Bowling position:
The ball used for hook bowling is quite heavy and can be compared to a medium sized water melon. The ball is made up of reactive resin. These balls give good friction on the lanes. The ball has three holes for a perfect grip.
For a good grip over the hook the thumb finger, index finger and the middle finger should be inserted into the holes. Stand at a certain distance from the bowling area, make a smooth move and release the hook in counter clockwise direction. The bowling position may differ according to the convenience of the bowler. Maintain perfect timing:
A perfect balance in releasing the ball is good for a nice throw. Make sure to give a good swing to the ball. Move the hand backwards and when it reaches the ankle just release the ball. The palm with the fingers hooked into the ball faces upwards and is at the bottom of the ball. Gently release the ball on the lane. The ball rolls straight and strikes the pins. Some tips for a good strike:
A perfect strike is always a wonderful experience. It is a good idea to release the ball along the arrows marked on the wooden lane. Try to roll the ball straightly so that it exactly strikes the pins. Take care not to cross the foul line while releasing the ball. As it is a competitive sport, no points will be added to the score. All balls even if they are hit, no points will be added to the current score. Some aspects to be taken care of:
As the ball is heavy, handle the ball with care. A smart attempt for beginners is to first start with lesser weight balls and then goes for the heavy ones. |
